May, 21 2024：Gaining streak of VN-Index interrupted (VN-Index -0.03%)

• VN-Index started near the reference mark as the turmoil regarding the political leader of the country is coming to an end.
• Investors’ excitement calmed down after an impressive increasing streak. The market alternated between green and red as investors turned to more cautious state.
• Selling pressures once again set in in the afternoon, primarily on Banking and Financial Services stocks, and dragged the market down.
• However, a strong buying force toward the end brought the market to a near full recovery, but still closing in the red.
• Market breadth also leaned to sell-side with 207 winners, 236 losers and 66 unchanged.
• Liquidity died down VND 24 trillion, decreasing 13.4%.

VN-30 slightly underperformed (VN-30 -0.30%)

• The basket recorded 11 increasing stocks, 16 decreasing stocks, and 3 staying the same.
• The underperformance of the basket was primarily brought about by Banking stocks such as TCB (-2.07%), along with VJC (-1.83%), PLX (-1.32%).
• BCM (+2.23%), FPT (+2.26%), VRE (+1.31%) were some positive notes in the basket.

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

• DCM (+5.29%) surged after completing the acquisition of KVF. KVF is a fertilizer producer with a charter capital of nearly VND 2,100 billion, specializing in producing NPK fertilizer.
• PNJ (+0.62%) benefited from the current rise of gold price, posting a revenue growth of 33.1% YoY to VND 16,049 billion in the first 4 months of 2024.
• Foreign investors net sold another VND 716 billion today. KBC (+1.29%) and VHM (-0.62%) were the most net sold stocks. On the other hand, DBC (+1.45%) continued to receive strong attention from foreign investors.
